Do I have a shower pump?

Shower pumps are usually fitted to gravity-fed systems, where you have a hot water cylinder and a cold water tank in the loft. Homes with a combi boiler or a mains pressure system don’t normally use one.

Why does my shower pump switch on by itself?

This is often caused by a small leak or a dripping tap or valve somewhere on the pump’s pipework, which the pump senses as water being used. Airlocks can cause it too.

Why is my shower pump so noisy?

Common causes are air in the system, debris in the pump, worn parts or the pump not being mounted properly. Sometimes the pump is simply in the wrong place.

Should I repair or replace my shower pump?

It depends on the fault and the age of the pump. We’ll tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it or whether a new pump is the better option.

Can I fit a shower pump to a combi boiler?

No. Shower pumps shouldn’t be connected to a mains water supply, which is what a combi boiler uses. If your pressure is low on a combi system, we can look at other causes.

Do you charge for call-outs?

No. We never charge for call-outs, and we offer free estimates.
