We called Billy out on an emergency after water was leaking from our bathroom into our dining room below. He came within a couple of hours and resealed around our shower. After waiting the advised time, we took a shower and the water came through again. I rang Billy and he was back out again within the hour. He checked all the previous sealing and then also helped level the shower tray out and resealed all of this too. This was back in May and we’ve not had any more issues.

Thank you so much for coming out and for being so helpful. Billy didn’t charge any extra on his second call out which was very generous. Would recommend Billy for any plumbing needs.

What should I do first if water is coming through the ceiling?

Turn off the water at your stopcock, switch off the electrics at the consumer unit if water is near any lights or sockets, keep out from under any bulging part of the ceiling, catch the water and call us.

Is it safe to turn the lights on?

No. If water is near a light fitting or switch, leave it off and switch the power off at the consumer unit. Have an electrician check it before you use it again.

Will my ceiling need replacing?

We fix the leak. Once it’s fixed, the ceiling needs to dry out. Small stains often just need redecorating, but if the plaster is soft, sagging or cracked, a plasterer will need to repair it.

Water only comes through when it rains – is that plumbing?

Probably not. Leaks that only appear in wet weather usually come from the roof, gutters or downpipes. See our gutter and downpipe repair service.

The leak is coming from the flat upstairs – what do I do?

Let your neighbour or landlord know straight away so they can turn their water off. We can find and fix the leak in the flat above once we have access.
