Sump pump failure due to blocked drains causing flooding in a converted basement. Yorkshire Water sorted the drains but wouldn’t attempt to replace the pump. We tried & failed to find a plumber to tackle the sump pump until we came across Billy’s company. He absolutely saved the day, came out to assess & took out the pump, ordered a new one & returned to fit it. He was excellent & more importantly an independent business – very knowledgeable, reliable, kept in contact & a nice man too! The cost of the job was what we expected to pay. – thank you!!

Really happy with Damian’s service. He arrived quickly, was very thorough in his diagnosis of the issue and replaced a totally broken sump pump the following morning. We felt very confident with the quality of his work, and would gladly recommend.

FAQ

Sump Pump & Sewage Pump FAQs – Sheffield & South Yorkshire

Answers to the questions customers ask before booking.

Still have a question? Speak directly to your local plumber. 0114 321 2272
What’s the difference between a sump pump and a sewage pump?

A sump pump removes groundwater or surface water from a basement or cellar. A sewage pump pumps waste from toilets, sinks and showers that sit below the level of the drain, such as a basement bathroom.

Why has my pump stopped working?

Common causes are blockages from wipes or debris, a stuck float switch, a worn-out motor or a power problem. We’ll find the cause and tell you whether it can be repaired.

Will the water company replace my pump?

Water companies usually look after the public sewers, not pumps on your property. If your pump has failed, it’s normally up to you to get it repaired or replaced.

Can I flush wipes if I have a sewage pump?

No. Wipes, sanitary products and fat are some of the most common causes of blocked and burnt-out pumps. Only flush toilet paper.

Do you install new pumps?

Yes. As well as repairs and replacements, we install new sump pumps and sewage pumps.

Do you charge for call-outs?

No. We never charge for call-outs, and we offer free estimates.
